The college years are probably the most important ones in an American football aspirant’s life. During these years, the player becomes mature, finds out precisely what position is the most appropriate one and defines his character on the field. The future of each player is influenced by his experience and reputation over these years, therefore they try their best. There are a few major factors that can influence a young player’s career. Stephon Heyer is one of those individuals who took over the college years from all points of view. He became one of the most prolific players in the college league, with some major awards and an excellent run. His performance during these years turned him into a very hot young prospect for the future, hence his immediate connection with the American football. He was signed up by the Washington Redskins as soon as he graduated from college.
Steve Heyer spent his college years in Maryland. He was approached by multiple collages when he graduated from high school, including Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Florida or Auburn. However, Maryland remained his primary option. During the first college year, he was still shy as a freshman. He got into the first team in one out of thirteen games. He only had two penalties throughout his first year; therefore his aggression was still not showing up. The second year was just as clear if you count the penalties. He only had two, but his experience as a player significantly grew as he decided to forget about the shyness. He started in all the games of the season. He played as a left tackle and he successfully did it, therefore he was rated among the best linesmen in the college league.
The upcoming college years came with even more rewards for the young Steve Heyer. He was constantly rated among the best players and he started in all the games. Overall, he played in 50 games. In 37 of them, he played as a left tackle. It was the most appropriate position his coach could find for his abilities. A few awards recommended Stephon Heyer for a professional career too; therefore he got into the Washington Redskins as soon as he finished the college. These days, he plays for the Oakland Raiders and his ascension is far from being over. Although he is one of the emblems of the team, he still has a lot to learn.
