Overview

· In the past year 220,000 Americans died of sudden cardiac arrest, almost one every two minutes.

· Death from sudden cardiac arrest is not inevitable.  If more people knew CPR, more lives could be saved.

· A child has a much smaller amount of reserve oxygen in his or her body, so it is very important to give rescue breathing as soon as possible.

· Each year, many children and infants die because they swallowed something that lodged in their airway. Many of these children could have been saved had someone known how to help.

You can learn life-saving skills by taking a class at your local Chapter of the American Red Cross. Our instructors are skilled in passing on to you their knowledge in an easy-to-follow manner and in a pleasant environment.

We offer classes in English and can offer classes in Spanish upon request. We can also offer one-on-one challenges in CPR by appointment to individuals who were trained after April 2006. See the course calendar below.  We also offer workplace training. Call (919) 942-4862 ext. 223 to schedule a workplace session.
